lukas own report

In 2018 I believe that I have been improving my writing by sitting next to people that I know that I can get my work done with. A strength of mine is using my key competencies skills.  


The key competencies skills that I used are thinking so I'm thinking of other people in my class and so I'm thinking of some choices that I need to do so we all get to finish our work to our best ability. 


I know by using my key competency skills I can become a successful learner. I know that I can become a successful learner by using them at the right time like during maths or writing.


 In my language group I was good at asking questions so I know what we were doing so I’m on board the waka. I think that I was good at helping and supporting others to become the best learner they can be. A job that I have chosen to do this year is patrols.


 Every Friday me and Roman have to make sure that students from Corinna school cross the road safely and so they don't get hit by a car.


 Books I like to read are soccer books because I Know they can help me improve my soccer Skills and improve my sportsmanship so I can support other people.


 The learning I like to do the most of at school Is writing because I really enjoy writing and I think it's fun learning for me and maybe for others.


 I like writing because I enjoy writing interesting stories for my reader. 


I also like writing cool Learning Stories. I am a successful learner in maths because I share my ideas with other people in my group so they know what we are doing. 


I also share the pen around so we get everyone's ideas and we don't make them feel left out of our group. 


Their ideas can spark with our ideas. In Polyclub I was good at learning the moves and I was good at helping the little kids with their moves so they know the dance moves. 


The awards I have achieved this year is a basketball award, a flag award and a ki o rahi award. I haven't got that many awards but Im going for a principal award next year or this year. 


Next year I want to know what kind of legacy I am going to leave at Corinna School. I want to improve my reading skills like not giving up when some words are hard.

Lukas Samoan Language Learning Story

The language that I am in is samoan language.


I was good at listening to Sia’s instructions and I was good at asking questions.


When I didn't know what to do I asked sia, so I was good at asking for some help as well.  


I know that everyone in my language group, Were really supportive to me because when I was stuck they all helped me, so we all finish as a group.


I think that I have learnt lots about my culture
and I think that I have learnt lots about what they
do in the islands. Like the kind of games they play
and lots more.


I have enjoyed 3 or 4 years of learning new words that we wouldn't have known. The new games from the islands that Sia wants to teach us, it's good for us to experience new games and new samoan words to learn at home with your family.


I think that by teaching us the samoan language
We would keep it alive so we don't forget our cultures. And so we can teach our sisters and our brothers or cousins at home.

At samoan language I had to self manage, so I wanted
to show Sia how good I was at using my key competency skills. I was managing self by making a good choice about where to sit so I could get my work done and let other people in my group finish their work too.


I think through my whole life I would never forget my language, because it's special to me and others that are part of my culture.

Sia has a really responsible job I think that it is important to her and our parents because they really want us to never forget our language and they want us to learn how to speak it so we communicate to others in our family just incase they don't know how to speak english.


My next steps are to not be shy when I feel like Sia

Is putting me on the spot, when she is actually trying to help me.

My book is called Diary of a wimpy kid Dog Days.


The Type of book.It is a fiction book.


 I located information.

 So I found out that for Greg Heffley it's hard for him to stop playing video games even when it a very nice day outside.


I inferred an idea.I found out in the text that rowley and gregAre best friends.


I evaluated.If I was Greg's parents I would take Greg somewhere that he has never been to and spend the whole day with him and see if he likes it and then he can start coming out and having some more fun outside withFriends and family.


The purpose of the book.I think this book can challenge people that realyLike video games and someone that Will never.


I analysed and synthesised.So I think that the message in the story is tellingus to don't just spend your time playing video gamestry something new or do something else like Going for a work .

Why I enjoyed this book.I liked this book because it has made me think like should he actually be playing video games on a really nice day and it has made me think If I was him would I be doing that so It has made me wonder.

Cold and Unsloved

Cold and Unloved

Have you ever slept in a cold see through bottle dumped in the middle of an abandoned ocean ever since you were only a little girl?

Every day I can see people passing me thinking I’m some sort of a statue sitting there in a see-through bottle freezing to death. 

I wonder what it feels to be loved and to never sleep in a really cold see through a bottle in the middle of this ocean I have never seen before.

I can notice by looking outside that the weather is not going to be really good today. So I need to make sure I keep calm.

I could see the salty sea water crashing into rocks like we are in world war 1  just for 1 poor girl that couldn't be loved ever since she was born just because she looked different to her whole family.


I cried for mercy as I felt my head place down.
 I didn't know what was going to happen but I thought that it was the end for me so I closed my eyes,  didn't hope to die.

A few minutes later: I wake up from a deep sleep I wonder how long I was sleeping for. I'm still wondering if it was a dream or if I was actually trapped in a bottle.

LUKAS Maths Learning Story.



LUKAS Maths Learning Story.
The problem
Allister and Sam are refilling the fridge with milk cartons. They want to save time by transporting the milk boxes in a bigger container so they can carry more at once. 

You may not like maths but it will take you somewhere in life.

We wanted to know the volume of the height the width and the length so we chose to go 3x10x4.5 because it is the length x the height and the width of the milk cartons.

 But to find the volume I had to make good choices so I sat next to people that I know that I could get my work done with.

 We went 33x33x28 because it was the width x the length and height of the whole container the  answer that we got from it was 30,492 .

So we thought to ourselves how can we solve it as a group so we were negotiating and asking each other questions.

So we went 30492 divided by 135 because 135 is the answer that we got from the width x height and length of the milk carton and 30492 was from the 33x33x28cm from the big container.

And the answer that we got was 225 milk cartons so we know that the answer is 225.

We were really good at choosing good spots to do our work so everyone else can get their work done too.

 I had to think of a good spot and good people that will support me with my learning so I can become the best maths learner I can be.

   I was good at asking questions so my ideas can spark with other people in my group . 

The K.C skills I used when I was working in my group were managing self by making sure me and my group were being the best maths learners that we could be in the future and the other K.C skill I was using was thinking  because I was making good choices so other people can finish with their work.

My next steps are to skim and scam so I know the problem more clearly.

ROMAN’S Feedback: When we were solving the problem, Luka was really good at explaining his ideas to us.  He focused on the problem and was asking questions and telling us what he thought.

Swimming learning story.

Have you ever been to swimming lessons?

Image result for how to backstrokeWell for me I believe that It could help you or someone else well I think that swimming lessons are good for me and my family because we like going out fishing with the family.


I think that the purpose is to make everyone inspired to swim so they can save other people and train little kids how to save other people from the sea.


New learning I found out is how to backstroke  all you need to do is kick your legs and trying float and stay floating till you get to the other end and you need to move your arms back and forward till you go faster and faster and try keeping your body that way the whole time and try not to sink.


The thing that my teacher told me is that I have to work on getting on a boat safely and I agree with her because me I just like jumping on the boat straight away and for me and my family that's kind of dangerous.


I got better at asking for help because every time I'm stuck
I ask my supervisor or my group for some help.


The k.c skills I used where thinking because I was thinking of the people that I was swimming with bye making way for them.

My next steps are to learn how to float for long without sinking down.

technology learning story

Luka’s Technology learning story


Have you ever been to technology?
    
At technology I got chosen to be in group 3 and we are in hard material. In hard material the number one rule for me is to be safe because there are a lot of sharp and dangerous tools that we shouldn't touch and for me I would say it's kinda hard for me to not touch stuff.


The thing that I was good at was sharing my ideas with people in my group so I can spark my idea with other people's ideas.


I got better at finishing my work on time like everyone else.


I need to work on not being shy to ask questions so
I can share my clever questions with other people in my group.


At tech we made our own wizzers to take home. To make our whizzer I had to use my k.c skills. The k.c skills I used was managing myself  because after I finished my work I chose to let others finish with their work.


New skills I learnt were how to use a hammer in a safe way
Mister Piller said to put one leg in the back and one leg in the front and put your hand half way on the hamar.


My next steps are to use the tools probably E.G I didn't know  how to use the rasp so I just did my own thing with the rasp and it came out wrong.

Luka’s Workshop Reflection

In our drumming group, we have been experiencing new drums and new beats by drumming on them and getting to know more about the drums.

I had fun experiencing drums from The Cook Islands.  I think that our purpose was to have fun and learn new beats from other cultures through this workshop. I had to think of good k.c skills to make me self-manage. E.g; I’ve been listening and been helping others, not just me and others so they know what they are doing.

In this workshop, I think that I have learned how to be more patient because you have to wait for the other person to finish with the drum so you can have a turn.

In this workshop, I have appreciated the help that I have been given through this workshop. Whenever I was stuck someone could help me by telling me to not give up and keep on trying so I kept on trying till I got better at it.

My next steps are to get a bit better at drumming so I can help others. And to have more fun in drumming.

Luka's art learning story


Art Learning Story.

“Art is not what you draw it’s something you can imagine inyour head.” (Luka Paulo)
Do you like art as much as I do well I love art. Do you?
Well, I am going to tell you about what I have done in my surrealist art.
I have showed things that represent me in my life. Eg; I have used the samoan flag because it represents me and tells the person thats looking at it that I am samoan and I think that.
In my art I have been willing to take a risk and going for it and have been trying and trying again.
I have been appreciating the support that my friends have given me.  I have improved my art by the feedback I have been given from my class.
My next steps are to use more unusual colours and more features in my art.

Luka's Writing Learning Story

Writing is not what you write it is what you can imagine.

Do you like writing as much as me?
When I was working on my writing I had to make
A good chose to help me to make really sensible
choses so it can prepare me for the future.

During writing I have made a few mistakes during my writing
I have learned that It doesn't matter if you make mistakes
It's ok because you learn from your mistakes.

The mistakes I have done has achshill helped me
because I know what I need to reflect on.

I was good at show not tell because I have told the
reader my favorite sport but I have told them the
shape of the ball and then i have told them
The name of the sport.

I have said Talofa in the start of my writing
because want the readers to try figure out my culture and it's a bit easier than
just telling them my culture because that is just boring.
In my writing I have used an interesting hook so
I can make the readers want to read more.

My next steps are to make our reader work something out (infer)
by: giving clues and not stating directly and using anecdotes and examples.

In p.e our purpose is to expect the best from ourselves and others. During p.e time we have been relating with others, using our group norms and key competency skills.


The sports that we have done are rounders, dodgeball, tea ball and softball. When we were doing p.e we are working in teams. The teams were team 1 and team 2. We had to work as a team and take risks and go for it.


In our teams there were arguments and disagreements. We did a lot of friendly arguing. We have expected the best from each other by making the right choices and using strategies to help us get better at our skills or win.


I was good at taking a risk and going for it. I think that I have been expecting the best from me and others. Do you know how to expect the best from yourself?


My next steps are to reflect on our performance and get feedback so we can improve.

This year is my first time at tech and I think that tech is really fun and it kind of

maths learning story

Rylee wants to find out how many students at Corinna School would like to do an activity involving skateboards and bikes in their lunchtimes. She sends a survey to 205 students. The survey results come back to her as percentages.
How many students want to do each activity?

So the problem is asking us how many students want to do each
Activity.

I thought that I would start off by finding out 100%. I found out that 100% was 205 to find 50% I halved 205 and then I went 2052=102.5.
I know that 50% is the same as 1 half. To find 60% I have to add 10% to 50%
And then I went 102.5 + something = 60%.

The keycomps I used in my MATHS was taking a risk and going for it.
I was good at asking for help When I needed help my next steps are to workout 10% out of 205. Also my next steps are to work on the group norms of listening to
others in my group and sharing my ideas with them.
